Sony XDCAM PDW-1500 SDI Audio Workaround during batch capture

There have been many cases in which the Sony XDCAM PDW-1500 has caused audio motor bloating while batch capturing. There are two things to note in the deck settings to check.

  1. The deck has a feature where the video output switches from playback output to E-E mode when the deck is in stop, FF or REW.  During a batch capture, the change in sync is confusing the Adrenaline SDI hardware that causes audio problems.
  2. You can change one of the following settings in the PDW-1500:

    a.    Change menu item 108 AUTO EE SEL from S/F/R to OFF
    b.    Change menu item 701 EE DELAY from SYNC to VIDEO

If you do not see these settings in the menu, you will need to enable the extended menu.  It can be enabled through the Maintenance menu.  Changing either one of these settings seems to solve the embedded audio SDI capture.
