Upgrading to Avid 3.5 When upgrading from a previous version of Avid Media Composer/Symphony, make sure you update the dongle first and confirm that it is licensed for 3.5. Go to www.avid.com/dongle/ for instructions. Once the dongle has been updated, you must uninstall all avid related software before upgrading. Power down or disconnect all firewire devices. On Windows go into the control panel, add remove programs. Uninstall all Avid applications, DIO Runtime, Digidesign and Sentinel driver. On the Mac, find the Avid Uninstallers folder and run each application to remove Avid software. Reboot the computer when done and cancel any new hardware found wizards. Read the release notes for the required OS updates and compatible Quicktime version: support.apple.com/downloads/. Reboot the computer once the OS updates are installed. Now you can safely install the latest Avid 3.5 release. Reconnect all firewire devices and automatically install drivers, start up the Avid and follow the instructions to update firmware.
